WNS5 is a technology company based in Olongapo City, delivering custom software and IT infrastructure solutions for organizations in the Philippines.We are currently building an enterprise Human Resource Information System (HRIS), Timekeeping, and Payroll Accuracy Platform for a company operating in the Subic Bay area. The platform will support employee records, workflows, approvals, timekeeping, payroll-related processes, auditability, and employee self-service.
About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong Go experience to help build and own the backend services of an enterprise HRIS and timekeeping platform.You will work primarily with Go and PostgreSQL and will be involved in API design, database architecture, workflow implementation, security, integrations, and production-quality backend engineering.
This is an architecture-driven role. You will work from defined requirements and API contracts, identify gaps early, and help ensure that the backend remains maintainable, secure, testable, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services using Go.
- Build REST APIs and services based on OpenAPI specifications.
- Design and maintain PostgreSQL schemas, queries, indexes, and database relationships.
- Implement employee master data, organizational structures, leave, overtime, approval workflows, and related HRIS functions.
- Develop configurable multi-level approval workflows across multiple departments.
- Implement role-based access control and secure authentication/authorization integrations.
- Work with OIDC/OAuth2 identity providers and enterprise authentication flows.
- Develop background jobs and asynchronous processing for notifications and other system tasks.
- Implement audit logging and support traceable business transactions.
- Write automated unit and integration tests.
- Investigate and resolve performance, reliability, and integration issues.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, UI/UX designers, QA, DevOps/SRE, and project leadership.
- Participate in sprint reviews, UAT support, technical discussions, and client-facing demonstrations when required.
- Review code and contribute to backend engineering standards and documentation.
- Professional backend software development experience.
- Strong professional experience with Go/Golang.
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing APIs and backend services.
- Strong understanding of database schema design, indexing, query optimization, and transaction handling.
- Experience developing business-process or workflow-driven applications.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and OpenAPI.
- Ability to read technical specifications and translate requirements into maintainable implementation.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a structured software development environment.
- Experience with Chi, Gin, Echo, Fiber, or similar Go web frameworks.
- Experience with pgx and sqlc or similar type-safe database tooling.
- Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers.
- Experience with OIDC/OAuth2 and identity providers such as Zitadel, Keycloak, Auth0, or similar.
- Experience with Docker and CI/CD.
- Experience with cloud-native or microservices architectures.
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, attendance, or enterprise workflow systems.
- Familiarity with Philippine HR, payroll, or labor-compliance requirements.
- Basic TypeScript/JavaScript knowledge for frontend integration and troubleshooting.
- ₱85,000 monthly salary depending on experience and technical capability.
