Bookkeeper – Accounting | WFH | AU

About the Role:

We are seeking a meticulous and reliable Bookkeeper to join our Accounting team in a remote setup. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting transactions, and supporting the finance team with reconciliations, reporting, and compliance. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, expenses, invoices, and payments.
  • Maintain and update general ledgers, journals, and financial statements.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and on time.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial records.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal teams regarding billing and payment matters.
  • Maintain organized digital financial records for audits and internal reviews.
  • Provide support to accountants and management as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Required qualification in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB, Monday.com, or similar).
  • Australian experience is necessary.
  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Strong skills in MS Excel and other office productivity tools.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • A portfolio of past work is required.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Experience with payroll processing and tax preparation.
  • Familiarity with international accounting practices and multi-currency transactions.
  • Certification in bookkeeping or accounting (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, CPA foundation level).
