Job Summary

We're looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join a growing business and work alongside our existing bookkeeper to keep our financial records accurate and up to date. This role centers on day-to-day bookkeeping — reconciliations, bill entry, receipt recording, and invoicing — primarily in Xero across multiple business entities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and confident working with minimal supervision once familiar with our processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform credit card and bank reconciliations in Xero
  • Enter and code supplier bills and manage accounts payable
  • Record, organize, and file receipts and supporting documentation
  • Prepare and process invoices, including timesheet- and hours-based invoicing
  • Maintain accurate, current financial records across multiple business entities
  • Assist with payroll-related data entry and preparation
  • Liaise closely with the existing bookkeeper to keep financial information consistent and clearly communicated
  • Follow up with banks or vendors on transactions and queries as needed
  • Help keep profit-and-loss and other financial reports up to date
Mandatory Skills:
  • Proven bookkeeping experience (not entry-level)
  • Strong proficiency in Xero
  • Hands-on experience with reconciliations, accounts payable, and invoicing
  • Solid grasp of standard bookkeeping practices and record-keeping
  • Dependable, detail-focused, and able to work independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with Australian bookkeeping practices, GST, and BAS
  • Experience supporting businesses in construction, trades, or labor hire
  • Experience handling payroll
  • Comfort working across multiple business entities at once
  • General administrative skills (email, calendar, vendor calls) for potential expanded scope
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities at once
