Construction Estimator – Division 5, Metals & Steel
Job Description:
- Perform complete estimating workflows for Division 5 steel and metals projects
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs from commercial and industrial plans, drawings, and specifications
- Review and interpret construction documents to identify project scope and requirements
- Calculate material, labor, fabrication, and steel installation costs
- Prepare accurate and competitive project estimates
- Use Bluebeam, Procore, and Microsoft Excel throughout the estimating process
- Support bid preparation and submission processes
- Coordinate project requirements within established operational workflows
- Identify scope details, quantities, exclusions, and potential estimating risks
- Maintain organized estimating documentation and cost information
- Collaborate with internal teams to clarify project requirements and deliver accurate bids
Requirements:
- 3+ years of dedicated construction estimating experience
- Strong background specifically in Division 5 Metals & Steel
- Experience with commercial and industrial construction projects
- Residential-only estimating experience does not qualify
- Strong quantity takeoff and construction document interpretation skills
- Proficiency with Bluebeam
- Proficiency with Procore
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Practical knowledge of steel installation and field assembly
- Ability to accurately estimate material, labor, and installation costs
- Fluent English communication skills
- Ability to work full-time from 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
- Knowledge of AISC standards and guidelines preferred
- Experience estimating structural steel and related Division 5 scopes preferred
- Field experience or strong conceptual understanding of steel installation preferred
- Experience working with U.S.-based commercial or industrial contractors, fabricators, or steel companies preferred
- Detail-oriented and highly accurate
- Comfortable taking ownership of estimates
- Strong at interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Familiar with U.S. construction practices
- Reliable and consistently available during EST business hours
- Comfortable working within structured operational workflows
- Clear and direct in English communication
