Overview The client is looking for an experienced DBA/Data Engineer to build and maintain Datawarehouse’s in SQL on Premises and in Azure in Microsoft Cloud environment. The role is to manage the ETL process from multiple sources and to help build/Maintain the metadata for to enable Enterprise Level Reporting. This role may also involve optimizing the SQL environment.

Responsibilities and Duties
Data Warehouse & Architecture- Design, build, and maintain SQL-based data warehouses on-premises (SQL Server) and in the cloud (Azure SQL / Azure SQL Managed Instance)
- Develop and manage dimensional models, star/snowflake schemas, and metadata to support enterprise reporting
- Define data architecture standards and ensure alignment with business intelligence requirements
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and SQL
- Manage data ingestion from multiple source systems, ensuring reliability, scheduling,
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate new data sources and evolve existing pipelines
- Create, maintain, and monitor highly available, high-performance database environments
- Write and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions
- Approve and manage database schema and procedure changes; enforce change control standards
- Minimise downtime through proactive monitoring, tuning, and parameter management
- Implement backup strategies and high-speed transaction recovery procedures
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA or Data Engineer in Microsoft environments
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (on-premises) and Azure SQL
- Advanced T-SQL skills: complex query writing, stored procedures, indexing strategy,
- Proven experience designing and building data warehouses (star/snowflake schemas,
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF): pipeline design, triggers, linked services, data flows
- Experience developing and deploying SSIS packages using Visual Studio
- Strong understanding of database security, access control, and compliance best practices
- Track record of proactive performance monitoring, tuning, and incident management
- Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance, including security configuration and feature management
- Familiarity with Microsoft Automatic Tuning and Query Store
- Exposure to Azure Synapse Analytics or other Azure analytics services
- Experience with source control for database objects (e.g., Git-based DevOps workflows)
- Knowledge of enterprise reporting tools such as Power BI or SSRS
