Marketing Automation Specialist,

The role

As the Marketing Automation Specialist, you will join Xero's Customer Engagement team to design, build, test, schedule, deploy, and report on global and regional communications using a modern marketing tech stack. You will be hands-on in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), ensuring campaigns reliably reach small business users worldwide to help make running their businesses seamless.

A key part of this position involves driving operational efficiency across the team. You will play a vital role in lifting delivery maturity by refining reusable email templates, documenting clear processes, sharing technical insights, and partnering with regional marketers on their quarterly communication plans.

 

The team & how they connect

You will join a high-performing Global Customer Engagement team that works in close partnership with Regional Marketing, Product Marketing, and Data & Insights specialists. The team operates with a focus on peer collaboration, shared learning, and thorough QA to streamline workflows across all regions. Together, they combine technical execution with commercial insights to build meaningful, tailored experiences for our audience.

 

Initially, you will focus on

  • Hands-on campaign creation and deployment using Salesforce Marketing Cloud and in-product messaging tools.

  • Building dynamic, personalized content using HTML, AMPscript, and SQL.

  • Managing end-to-end campaign QA, audience segmentation logic, and data troubleshooting.

  • Standardizing build patterns, updating team documentation, and delivering operational sends.

Here are some of the things we are looking for

  • Experience managing multi-region or multi-segment email and CRM campaigns.

  • Technical capability using HTML, CSS, AMPscript, and SQL for dynamic content creation.

  • Solid understanding of data ingestion, file imports, and audience segmentation rules.

  • Demonstrated ability to run end-to-end campaign QA, resolve automation issues, and evaluate delivery metrics.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to manage competing deadlines and translate technical requirements clearly.

  • A proactive approach to documenting processes, sharing knowledge, and simplifying daily workflows.
