- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience independently managing end-to-end Australian payroll, ideally within an organization of 50-200 employees
- Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, Superannuation Guarantee, Single Touch Payroll (STP), and payroll tax
- Proven experience managing multiple concurrent pay cycles and multi-jurisdictional payroll tax obligations
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development
- Experience administering salary sacrifice arrangements, novated leasing, and employee leave entitlements
- Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., KeyPay), HRIS platforms, and advanced Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrate discretion, integrity, and excellent written and verbal communication skills when handling confidential employee information
Payroll Processing
- Prepare and process fortnightly and monthly payrolls from end to end, including new hires, terminations, ad hoc payments, back pays, and deductions
- Process employment changes accurately within the appropriate payroll cycle based on instructions from the People & Culture Manager
- Calculate termination payments, including unused leave entitlements, Employment Termination Payments (ETPs), and redundancy payments
- Submit payroll summaries to the Finance Manager for review and approval before payment processing
- Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards, employment contracts, and annual salary reconciliation requirements
- Manage Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting and annual finalization activities
- Calculate, reconcile, and remit superannuation contributions in accordance with applicable legislation
- Prepare payroll tax calculations and support payroll tax lodgements and payments across applicable Australian states
- Administer PAYG withholding obligations, complete end-of-financial-year payroll processes, and prepare annual workers' compensation wages declarations
