About the Role We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant / Senior Accounting Assistant to support a growing U.S.-based accounting firm. This role is ideal for someone with strong bookkeeping and accounting experience who can not only manage day-to-day financial tasks but also contribute strategic insights and problem-solving support. The successful candidate will work directly with the firm owner, helping manage multiple client accounts, maintain financial accuracy, and create capacity for business growth. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Bookkeeping ● Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies. ● Maintain accurate financial records within QuickBooks and Sage. ● Review and reconcile cash balances and financial reports. ● Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. ● Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. ● Support bookkeeping activities across multiple client accounts. Financial Reporting & Analysis ● Prepare financial reports and cash flow summaries. ● Monitor and analyse financial data to identify inconsistencies and trends. ● Assist in creating and maintaining financial workbooks and forecasting models. ● Support investor and management reporting requirements for startup and growth-stage businesses. ● Help develop financial projections and scenario analyses. Tax & Audit Support ● Assist with tax season preparation and administrative support. ● Enter and organise tax-related data for approximately 260 annual tax clients. ● Support audit preparation, documentation gathering, and reconciliations. ● Ensure client records are accurate and audit-ready. Administrative & Client Support ● Help maintain service standards across a portfolio of approximately 12–13 accounting clients. ● Monitor deadlines and ensure client deliverables are completed on time. ● Communicate professionally with the firm owner regarding priorities and workload management. ● Provide dependable support that enables the owner to focus on higher-level advisory and CFO responsibilities. Ideal Candidate Profile Required Skills & Experience ● Strong accounting and bookkeeping background. ● Experience with QuickBooks Online/Desktop. ● Experience with Sage accounting software or ability to learn quickly. ● Excellent reconciliation and financial reporting skills. ● Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail. ● Experience supporting multiple clients or entities simultaneously. ● Advanced Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet skills. Preferred Qualifications ● Accounting degree or equivalent accounting qualification. ● Experience working with U.S.-based accounting practices. ● Familiarity with U.S. tax preparation processes. ● Experience supporting audits. ● Experience in construction industry accounting. ● Exposure to startup, investor reporting, or CFO-level financial planning activities.
