<p>Role Summary: </p> <p>The intern will participate in two main activities.</p> <p>First, the intern will review data from cynomolgus monkey toxicology studies conducted by Dyne. They will compile and analyze findings across studies to create a slide deck that highlights similarities and differences. The goal is to identify results that are consistent across studies, as well as findings that are specific to a particular therapeutic. The intern will also examine scanned histology slide images from these studies using the Patholytix digital pathology system, along with related study reports and datasets.</p> <p>In this activity, the intern will build knowledge of cynomolgus monkey tissue histology, background lesions, and findings associated with biologics and oligonucleotides. They will also learn how digital pathology is used to assess histology slides, an increasingly standard industry approach. In addition, they will practice interpreting and summarizing both clinical and anatomic pathology data to support human risk assessment for a novel therapeutic.</p> <p>The second objective focuses on evaluating the effect of a novel Dyne therapeutic in a mouse pharmacology model. The intern will use histologic, histochemical, immunohistochemical, and/or biochemical techniques to assess changes in tissues and track the therapeutic’s distribution within tissues. They will help carry out a short-term rodent study, including collecting and processing tissues needed for these analyses.</p> <p>Overall, the intern will gain hands-on experience in conducting animal studies, collecting and processing tissues for histologic and biochemical evaluation, and using methods to assess tissues through both approaches.</p> <p>The intern will work with Dyne pathology, histology, and animal pharmacology staff. They are expected to summarize findings from both activities in a slide deck and/or poster, and deliver an oral presentation to Dyne colleagues.</p> <p>This position is based in Waltham, MA and cannot be performed remotely. Applicants must be able to relocate to the area. The role will run for 8 to 12 weeks from May to August 2024.</p> <p><strong>Primary Responsibilities Include:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Review digital histology slides and study data to identify and tabulate similarities and differences across cynomolgus monkey toxicology studies.</li> <li>Process tissues, perform staining, and evaluate microscopic changes in tissues from a mouse pharmacology study.</li> <li>Summarize and present findings to Dyne colleagues.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Education and Skills Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Must have completed undergraduate education and be enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program with at least 2 years completed.</li> <li>The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an interest in pathology through involvement in pathology-related activities and/or participation in their institution’s pathology club.</li> <li>Applicants in the 4th year of their veterinary medicine program and those in a veterinary pathology residency may also be considered.</li> <li>A cover letter describing the applicant’s interest in pathology and a curriculum vitae must be submitted with the application.</li> </ul> <p><strong>LI-Onsite</strong></p>
