WFH Australian Accountant (Xero)

Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Australian Accountant (Xero) to support their growing Australian accounting firm specialising in the entertainment, creative, and hospitality industries. This role is ideal for a CPA with Australian accounting experience who is looking to build a long-term career within a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll support, and compliance activities while working primarily in Xero.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM AEST, with a 1-hour unpaid break; Full-time, 40 work hours per week

Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Prepare journals and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Australian Accounting Support
  • Maintain accurate records within Xero.
  • Assist with BAS preparation and GST reconciliations.
  • Support payroll processing and related reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial reports for management review.
  • Assist with budgeting and cash flow reporting.
Administration & Reporting
  • Prepare spreadsheets and financial schedules using Microsoft Excel.
  • Maintain organized digital records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with audit preparation where required.
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting procedures.
Project & Workflow Coordination
  • Track accounting tasks and deadlines.
  • Assist with workflow management through Monday.com (where applicable).
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of finance-related tasks.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy.
  • CA or CPA (licensed or actively qualified).
  • Australian accounting experience.
  • Practical experience using Xero.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Monday.com.
  • Experience with Australian payroll.
  • Experience preparing BAS.
  • Knowledge of Australian taxation principles.
  • Experience working remotely for Australian businesses.
