WFH Import Operator – Freight Forwarding

Job Overview: As an Import Operator in this full-time remote role, you will coordinate and manage international freight entering the United States for an established freight forwarding company. Your primary responsibility involves extensive daily phone communication with airlines, vendors, clients, and logistics partners, making strong hands-on import operations experience for success. Schedule: Remote, Full Time | Monday to Friday, 08:00 AM - 5:00 PM Chicago / Central Time. Responsibilities: - Manage and coordinate international import shipments into the United States from origin through final delivery. - Monitor shipments and provide timely updates to clients, vendors, airlines, and internal stakeholders. - Communicate regularly with airlines, carriers, agents, vendors, and customers by phone and email. - Coordinate shipment documentation and ensure required information is accurate and complete. - Track shipment progress and proactively address delays, discrepancies, or operational issues. - Work with overseas agents and service providers to ensure shipments move according to schedule. - Maintain accurate shipment records and update the company's freight forwarding system. - Respond promptly and professionally to client enquiries regarding shipment status and delivery. - Coordinate with relevant parties regarding arrival details, clearances, releases, and deliveries. - Maintain strong relationships with customers and logistics partners. - Follow internal processes and freight forwarding procedures while ensuring a high level of customer service. Requisites: - 4–5 years of freight forwarding experience preferred. - Previous experience working specifically as an Import Operator, Import Coordinator, Import Specialist, or similar freight forwarding role. - Strong understanding of international shipping and import operations into the United States. - Experience communicating directly with airlines, carriers, vendors, overseas agents, and clients. - Excellent spoken and written English. - Clear and professional telephone communication skills. - Comfortable handling a high volume of phone and email communication. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously. - Good problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly when shipment issues arise. - Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with shipment information and documentation. - Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and general computer applications. - Comfortable working with cloud-based applications and internet-based international calling systems. - Able to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining regular communication with the team.
