WFH Restaurant Bookkeeper (QuickBooks)

Job Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Restaurant Bookkeeper (QuickBooks) to take ownership of bringing a restaurant's financial records back to health and maintaining them moving forward. In this hands-on role, you will work directly with the business co-owner to categorize transactions, reconcile accounts, process invoices from the ExtraChef Toast platform, and ensure QuickBooks accurately reflects the business's financial position. You will have the autonomy to organize the workflow while receiving clear direction and support from a CFO-level stakeholder.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Eastern Time (or 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Eastern Time) (20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Upload and organize missing bank statements into QuickBooks.
  • Categorize and reconcile all outstanding transactions to bring accounts current.
  • Export and process invoices from ExtraChef Toast invoicing platform.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure proper documentation.
  • Import cleaned invoice data into QuickBooks accurately.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Collaborate directly with the business co-owner via Zoom, email, and messaging.
  • Prepare books for smooth transition into the next fiscal year.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Provide regular updates on progress and flag any issues requiring attention.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper with at least 2–3 years in the role.
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and demonstrated ability to clean up messy books.
  • Experience uploading bank statements and categorizing large volumes of transactions.
  • Comfortable working with invoicing platforms and exporting/importing data.
  • Solid understanding of monthly reconciliation processes.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating remotely via Zoom and email.
