WFH Senior Staff Accountant | QuickBooks Online (US GAAP)

Job Overview

Our client is looking for a Staff Accountant to support a client engagement focused on cleaning up and organizing financial records in QuickBooks Online to produce updated financial reporting and tax-ready books. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, self-sufficient, and deeply familiar with US accounting standards and tax law. The right person can hit the ground running with minimal oversight and takes ownership of their work from start to finish.

Client Overview The client is an accounting staffing firm that specializes in matching qualified finance and accounting professionals with companies across a range of industries. They place candidates in temporary, contract, and direct hire roles and pride themselves on making placements that go beyond credentials — matching candidates to the right culture, environment, and scope of work.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Eastern Time (20 hours per week)
Responsibilities
  • Categorize and reconcile bank and credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online
  • Clean up and organize the general ledger to ensure accuracy and proper classification
  • Prepare and deliver updated financial statements, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
  • Ensure all entries are structured and documented for tax preparation purposes
  • Apply US GAAP principles and US tax law knowledge throughout the engagement
  • Identify and flag any inconsistencies or gaps in the books for client review
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready records throughout the engagement
Requirements
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online — bank feeds, categorization, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Solid knowledge of US tax laws and how they apply to financial reporting and categorization
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Experience producing financial statements independently
  • Ability to work remotely and manage deliverables without day-to-day supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and a clean, organized approach to bookkeeping and accounting
  • Experience in international real estate accounting is a plus
Nice-to-have
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience with hands-on QuickBooks Online proficiency
  • Prior experience preparing books for tax purposes
  • Background in real estate or property accounting is a plus
  • Available immediately for a 3-month engagement
