This is an opportunity to be part of a robust and hard-working team delivering the base operational and customisation business at Skelmersdale Distribution Centre. You will be responsible for Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Industrial Hygiene & Safety (IH&S) and Fire Protection. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with UK HSE legislation and internal standards whilst driving continuous improvement across site safety systems and programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Site HSE tools: Lead the delivery of core HSE objectives, including legal compliance, site programs implementation, and alignment with UK HSE laws and company strategies.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Maintain full ownership of site safety documentation, contractor HSE sections, and the site HSE scorecard.
  • Cross-Departmental Procedures: Provide cross-functional support and feedback to ensure safety, quality, service, and productivity targets are met.
  • Role Model Behaviour: Representing the site in monthly HSE calls and contribute to central HSE scorecard reporting. Consistent focus on safe execution, operational efficiency and outage prevention fostering broad business knowledge and personal growth.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate strong leadership and people management capabilities, including oversight of contractors, project coordination, and potential direct reports.

Job Qualifications

  • Holding a NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Fire Safety Qualification is a requirement for this role.
  • Previous HSE Experience: Proven experience within the HSE environment is a key fundamental with sound understanding of UK HSE legislation.
  • Problem Solving Skills: Strong problem solving skills, including root cause analysis and the ability to create, update and reinforce standards, proactively challenging quality, safety & Internal Controls.
  • Leadership: Strong personal accountability & leadership to drive completion of long-term plans with ability to create new processes ensuring standardisation. A proactive approach to personal development and team growth is necessary - completion of internal HSE qualifications will be instrumental to progression.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage with team members and external stakeholders.
  • Multi-Tasking Ability: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining accountability and leadership.
