The Role

We are looking for reliable, hardworking and flexible individuals to join our team at East Midlands Airport.

As a Cargo Warehouse Operative / Logistics Assistant, you will help handle cargo, manage incoming and outgoing freight, and ensure a smooth and efficient logistics process for international cargo flights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading cargo flights and transport vehicles
  • Sorting and scanning packages quickly and accurately
  • Checking labels and documentation to ensure cargo reaches the correct destination
  • Moving and handling cargo safely within the warehouse
  • Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy and safe
  • Following all airport safety, security and operational procedures
  • Working effectively as part of a busy team

Shift Patterns – Flexibility Essential

Applicants must be fully flexible and able to work a variety of shift patterns.

East Midlands Airport operates 24/7, so shifts can include:

  • Day shifts
  • Night shifts
  • Early starts and late finishes
  • Weekends
  • Bank holidays
  • Rotating shift patterns

Please only apply if you are able to work flexibly across different shifts, including nights and weekends when required.

The exact rate will depend on your experience and the specific shift pattern you work. Additional shift premiums may be available.

Requirements

  • Reliable with an excellent work ethic
  • Fully flexible with shift patterns, including nights and weekends
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling cargo safely
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
  • Applicants must hold a valid DBS check issued within the last 6 months
  • Must be able to provide a complete, checkable 5-year work or education history for airport security clearance
  • A satisfactory criminal record check is essential for airside access
  • Previous warehouse, logistics or aviation experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training is provided

Airport Security Clearance

Due to the nature of the role and the requirement for airside access, all applicants must meet the relevant airport security clearance requirements.
