Senior IT Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced senior IT project manager

to lead complex technology and business transformation initiatives within a large enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing end-to-end IT project delivery across business platforms, core technology platforms, and digital transformation initiatives.

The role requires strong expertise in project planning, execution, governance, stakeholder management, Agile and Waterfall delivery methodologies, risk management, vendor coordination, and successful delivery of technology projects within agreed timelines, scope, quality, and budget.

The successful candidate will work closely with business teams, technology teams, PMO, vendors, and senior stakeholders to drive successful delivery of strategic initiatives.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Project planning & strategy

  • Define project objectives, scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans including timelines, milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, delivery approach, and governance structure.
  • Identify project phases, activities, effort estimations, and required resources to ensure successful delivery.
  • Establish project baselines and tracking mechanisms to monitor progress against agreed plans.
  • Ensure technical feasibility and alignment between business objectives and technology solutions.

Project execution & delivery management

  • Manage the complete project lifecycle from initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Coordinate internal technology teams, business teams, external vendors, consultants, and delivery partners.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timelines, scope, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Drive execution across multiple teams and workstreams while managing dependencies and delivery priorities.
  • Monitor project deliverables and ensure adherence to defined quality standards.
  • Manage project resources effectively and ensure teams have the required information and support to deliver successfully.

Project monitoring, governance & reporting

  • Establish project governance frameworks, reporting structures, and communication mechanisms.
  • Track project progress, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare project status reports, dashboards, MIS reports, and executive updates.
  • Lead project meetings including daily stand-ups, project reviews, governance forums, and steering committee meetings.
  • Provide clear visibility of project status, delivery risks, and escalation points to senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure project documentation is maintained according to PMO and quality management standards.

Risk, issue & change management

  • Identify potential project risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges proactively.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize project impact.
  • Manage project changes including scope changes, timelines, resource adjustments, and business priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational governance processes, risk frameworks, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage escalations effectively and drive resolution of critical delivery issues.

Stakeholder & vendor management

  • Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, IT teams, vendors, and external partners.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations through effective communication and regular engagement.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirement discussions, planning sessions, and solution alignment meetings.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and ensure delivery commitments are achieved.
  • Act as the key point of escalation for project delivery matters.

Agile & delivery methodology

  • Apply Agile delivery practices including Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog management, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience managing projects using Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models.
  • Support teams in adopting Agile practices while ensuring governance and delivery discipline.
  • Drive collaboration between business, product owners, engineering teams, QA, operations, and other stakeholders.

Required skills & experience

Project management experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as an IT project manager.
  • Overall experience of 12+ years in technology delivery environments.
  • Proven experience managing complex enterprise IT projects and transformation programmes.
  • Strong experience delivering technology projects within banking or financial services environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing business and technology projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end IT project management lifecycle.

Banking & technology experience

  • Experience working with banking technology platforms, enterprise applications, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Understanding of business platforms, core platforms, and enterprise IT ecosystems.
  • Experience coordinating multiple technology teams including development, testing, infrastructure, operations, and vendors.
  • Exposure to regulated environments with strong governance, compliance, risk, and audit requirements.

Agile & delivery skills

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and Scrum framework.
  • Experience working with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches.
  • Ability to manage delivery teams and ensure successful project execution.
  • Strong knowledge of project management tools, techniques, and best practices.

Technical & professional skills

  • Strong project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting skills.
  • Experience with:

  • Experience working within banking or financial services organizations preferred.
  • Experience delivering large-scale transformation programmes is highly desirable.
